Landing Page Quality - Foulplay
Saturday, February 17, 2007
Recently Google Adwords team announced about bringing transparency and quality results in sponsored results, but it seems Google still just care about quantity rather than quality, still MFAs (made-for-adsense) websites are prevailing in sponsored results and thats too in among top results.
Search term - GMAT exam date
The Ad - Sponsored Result -
And the Landing Page of above Ad is Full of Adsense ads, no "Valuable Information" as per this Ad's Description -
If i am not wrong as per my Adwords knowledge is concerned, according to Adwords System an Ad can only be in running stage when its approved by Adwords of its Landing Page Quality.
I am wandering why and what Adwords and its human editors see in this page for its approval thats too when it has concerns of educational information. A lot of students search for these type of educational information and materials online and its frustrating when they are taken to MFA sites and websites which have nothing but Adsense ads, ads of Books from Amazon, paid text links and no valuable information, not even a single word of information of any kind. Does money made out of this be any fruitfull??!!

Adwords Algo Changing and CPC Site Bidding on Beta
Friday, February 16, 2007
Google Came up this week with one more Update/ changes and this time its google's product generates most of the revenue for Google Adwords. These are;
- New Optional Quality Score column that shows the minimum bid for all of the keywords within an ad group, along with quality label - Great, OK, or Poor
- A change to the Quality Score Algorithm.
Google Adwords is changing way it set minimum bids for keywords - For example, if the system does not have any data on a keyword, a lower initial minimum bid will be assigned until the Adwords system have enough data to make a more accurate assessment of the Quality Score for that keyword in Adwords account.

The Google Answers service has helped many people during its four and a half years of existence, and it continues to do so. Researchers and unpaid commenters formed a community which should not be discarded lightly. Many repeat users were able to easily find answers to difficult questions thanks to the service. Furthermore, Google Answers proved that a living could be made working on the Internet alone, as many researchers
worked on the site as their sole source of income. We, the undersigned, believe that Google should continue to provide this valuable community service to the Internet.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned

Google Answers Shut Down
Thursday, November 30, 2006
Google announced that they are shutting down one of their earliest service - Google Answers. Launched in April 2002 with a small 4-person team and went out of Beta in May 2003, Google Answers was one of the very first project Google worked on.Although Google didn’t say what’s the cause to shutting it down, but here’s probably the answer from Google Answers: What has happened to Answers?(via Google OS) It’s really sad to see Google Answers being shut down. Unlike Google X, Answers has been around for years, even though I don’t use it at all. Bye, Google Answers.
[Via - Googlified]
The people who participated in Google Answers -- more than 800 of them over the years -- are a passionate group committed to helping people find the information they need, and we applaud them for sharing their incredible knowledge with everyone who wrote in.
If you have a chance, we encourage you to browse through the questions posted over the last 4+ years. Although we won't be accepting any new questions, the existing Qs and As are available. We'll stop accepting new Answers to questions by the end of the year.
Google Answers was a great experiment which provided us with a lot of material for developing future products to serve our users. We'll continue to look for new ways to improve the search experience and to connect people to the information they want.
